Edge banding with laser technology
First unveiled to an international audience at Ligna 2009 was an edge bander from Homag using patent-registered laserTec. The edge and panel are not connected by heating the edging material by means of laser, guaranteeing an outstanding and consistent standard of processing quality. The new technology leaves practically no visible joint.

As this technology does not entail the use of glue inside the machine, it cuts out the time required for glue heating, resulting in improved plant output and energy saving. At the same time it reduces soiling of the workpiece and the downstream processing units, and also cuts down on the amount of staff needed for repairs and maintenance periods.

Through cooperation with edge manufacturers and laser specialists, this development has produced a machine with a substantially improved level of productivity and quality and reduced waste compared to processing with
PU hot-melt glues.
