A plywood mill in the Southern United States will soon be using Westmill's LightSORT Green Veneer Moisture Measuring System.
This will be Westmill’s third LightSORT installation, the first in the south sorting Southern Yellow Pine. Westmill technicians are excited to show how accurately LightSORT can moisture sort this species of green veneer.
Accurate green end moisture sorting leads to improved green veneer loads resulting in less veneer breakage during handling, more veneer through your dryer, more efficient drying, better quality and more consistent dry veneer (less over/under drying), better glue bond and thus a better end product.
Other recent Westmill orders and installations include:
Longitudinal veneer dryer Westmill recently completed the rebuild of a 6-deck Moore Longitudinal Veneer Dryer for Pacific Wood Laminates, Inc. at their Brookings Oregon Plywood Plant. This is the second dryer that Westmill has rebuilt for PWL, the first rebuild was completed in 2004.
The rebuild included a new stainless steel dryer shell, stainless floating skin dryer doors complete with the Westmill patented articulating door hardware, an insulated dryer floor including the Westmill proprietary floor jacking system, the Westmill SYSTEM 1-2-3™ stainless steel door-seal system, the Westmill proprietary ‘Quick-Install’ dryer door frame cartridges and manifolds, upper duct turning vanes, roll baffles and exhaust stack damper sections complete with electro-pneumatic positioning cylinders, infeed vacuum feeder, infeed accumulator, sequential unloader and eight (8) special sliding doors for the manifold sections.
Westmill also upgraded the dryer’s cooling sections to maximize their efficiency. The project was completed on time at the yearend 2008.
Dryer infeed load accumulator Westmill Industries USA Corp. received an order from Colville Indian Power and Veneer (CIPV) Plywood Plant located in Omak Washington for a Westmill Dryer Infeed Load Accumulator.
This accumulator is for an existing dryer and will allow the mill to significantly reduce missed dryer feeds during the load change-over thus increasing the dryer fill ratio and overall dryer production. The payback on this equipment is remarkably fast.
