Globe provides LP Houlton finishing line
The finishing line at the Houlton facility is supplied by Globe Machine Manufacturing.
A weigh scale conveyor, located at the press outfeed, receives OSL billets.  The billets then move through the edge and end trim saws and are conveyed into a cooler.  The billets can be ripped to two widths prior to cooling and can be sorted when they leave the cooler to be stacked in one of two large billet stackers.  The stacked billets are then transferred directly to the saw line or are taken into an intermediate storage area.

Stacks in the intermediate storage are managed by a 20 ton overhead crane.  The crane system is completely automatic; this system was designed and delivered by Globe.  The system was designed so that there are no pallets required. The stacks from the storage area are delivered to the saw line as required by mill management system.

In the saw line the billets are broken down to the desired widths.  There are two Globe rip saws, one for primary breakdown to widths of 7.5” to 24” and the other is a setworks rip saw that will break 24” billets further down to different sizes (3.5” minimum).

All products are then stacked, coated, cut-to-length, strapped and wrapped for shipment.
